Privacy Policy

EasyMeal helps a household plan meals and shop from one shared list. This page says what we store, who helps us run the app, and what you can ask us to do with your data. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@easymeal.app.
What we store
- Your account: your email address, the name you give us, and how you sign in (an email link or code, Google or Apple). We don’t store passwords.
- Your household: its name, its members, and the email addresses you invite.
- What you add: recipes (including links, text and photos you import), the meal plan, the grocery list, your pantry and staples, your diets, allergies and dislikes, and your chats with the assistant.
- How the app is used: anonymous usage and speed measurements, error reports, and how much each household uses the AI features (so we can keep costs under control).
- Feedback you send from Settings, with the screen it came from.
Your household’s data is shared with the other members of your household, and nobody else. Your chats with the assistant are private to you. A copy of your household’s data is kept on your phone, so the app works offline.
Your diets and allergies are health information. We use them only to keep suggestions safe for everyone in your household.
Where it’s stored
Everything is hosted in the United States (US East). If you live in the UK or the European Economic Area, your data is transferred to the US to provide the app. Our providers protect these transfers with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension where they’re certified.
Who helps us run EasyMeal
- Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the app, and measures visits and speed (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) without cookies.
- Microsoft Azure OpenAI runs the AI features. When you import a recipe, chat with the assistant, draft a week, adapt a recipe or scan your fridge, we send the recipe text or photo and your kitchen context (your recipes, plan, pantry, and your household’s diets and allergies) to the model. Under Microsoft’s terms, this isn’t used to train models, isn’t shared with OpenAI, and isn’t available to other customers. Microsoft may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse.
- Sentry receives error reports. We remove email addresses, recipe text, chats and pantry contents first; a report carries only your account’s ID.
- Resend sends sign-in and invite emails.
We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, it’s deleted, and so is any household that only you belong to. A household you share keeps its recipes, plan and list for the others. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time: Settings → Erase my data.
- Get a copy of your data, correct it, or object to how we use it: email privacy@easymeal.app. We reply within a month.
- If you’re in the UK or EU and you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Children
EasyMeal is for people aged 16 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app first. See also our Terms.
